A not-for-profit organisation and registered charity dedicated to saving our windmill

The windmill at Chishill is one of only eight open trestle post mills in the UK. In 2011 it was in urgent need of restoration to save it from collapse and preserve it for future generations. Thanks to the Great Chishill Windmill Trust it has been saved.

The Windmill will again be hosting a snowdrop viewing event on Saturday 14th February if you would like to attend, please Email us at [email protected]. More details in the New Year.

 

There will be many exciting events for the Windmill in 2026. The Windmill Spring Fair Weekend takes place in Great Chishill on Saturday / Sunday 21 / 22 March. Saturday features a Craft Fair with refreshments and a range of stalls just in time for Easter. In the evening you can buy tickets for musical entertainment with food. On Sunday there will be an update on the windmill’s exciting plans for the future together with a marmalade breakfast where the winning marmalade entries will be judged and they can be sampled and purchased. If you would like to enter a marmalade or want more information about the event, please Email us at [email protected]. It will soon be time for marmalade making so start cooking with a traditional recipe or experiment with something more exotic.

The windmill recently hosted a drone expert who mapped the windmill and produced an amazing digital 3D model. You can manipulate the image and zoom in and out using your computer controls. Let us know what you think by leaving or emailing us a comment.
