A not-for-profit organisation and registered charity dedicated to saving our windmill

The windmill at Chishill is one of only eight open trestle post mills in the UK. In 2011 it was in urgent need of restoration to save it from collapse and preserve it for future generations. Thanks to the Great Chishill Windmill Trust it has been saved.

The windmill open days started in April. If you would like an ad hoc tour, please contact us on [email protected]

The Windmill will be open every 2nd and 4th Sunday in the month through to the end of September. See specific dates to check if there will also be light refreshments.

Did you know you can support the windmill by subscribing to the Cambridge Community Lottery? Details are below:

The windmill recently hosted a drone expert who mapped the windmill and produced an amazing digital 3D model. You can manipulate the image and zoom in and out using your computer controls. Let us know what you think by leaving or emailing us a comment.

 

The windmill is open in 2025 on the following dates (10:00 to 16:00). There is no need to book - just come along, although if you plan to bring a large party, it would be helpful to know in advance, and if you are coming from some distance, it could be wise to check beforehand - as plans may change. We would love to see you, why not bring a picnic?
